Today has been looooooooooooong but amazing!

We were up at 5am, had luggage out and breakfast at 6pm, sat in Lima traffic for 1.5 trying to get to the airport (I slept), checked in at the (chaotic) airport for our 10am flight on Sky Airlines.

Fun fact…flying domestically here in Peru they don’t care about your liquids and you can bring water in with you as well. That was great.

Our adventure, guides, Joy and Rudy, have been amazing at directing us giving us all the information we need and got everybody to Cusco. Once we landed, the ABD crew took our luggage straight to our resort and we headed out on an adventure.

We loaded up our two buses; we are Team Cusco and the other bus is team Pasha. 🤭 Joy and Rudy had snacks for our drive and there’s always water on the bus. We tried Chuta bread which reminded me of a sweet almost cinnamon bread.

We drove about an hour to our highest point of the trip at 12550 feet above sea level and ouch does my head hurt. We are staying hydrated, taking preventative meds, taking liquid IV and drinking cocoa tea.

We stopped in Chinchero at the Center for Traditional Textiles for a textile workshop and lunch catered by Cicciolina’s Picnics (chef’s kiss)!

We ate a farm to table over the top outstanding Peruvian lunch. Bill ate alpaca. That’s the only thing I said no to so far. 🫣. He said it tastes like steak.

Another 30 minutes and we were to our resort in Urubama for the next 4 nights, Tambo del Inca, in the Sacred Valley. The resort is incredibke and we even have an alpaca in the lobby! Our room is monsterously large and we have amazing views of the Andes!

After an Andean dinner called pachamanca and an Inca show we got our pin of the day and prepared for our white water rafting adventure tomorrow.

Whew I’m tired!! But still in the pinch me phase of I can’t believe we are in Peru!

Historic Lima!

Today we took an Uber to the Plaza de Mayor and surprisingly stumbled into their Palm Sunday parade. What a delight! I even snagged a cross palm for myself! And the hubs had an Inka Cola which tastes just like Disney World! IYKYK

Ubers are incredibly cheap here and easy to use. We spent $10 USD total for 2 Uber rides to the historic center and back.

We met with our 2 Adventure Guides…Joy our ABD guide and Rudy our Peruvian born guide. They gave us a map for Lima, suggestions for what to see today, answered all of our questions before we officially join the tour and gave us our marching orders for the next few days when we leave Lima.

Annnnnnnnnd thennnnnn ….they gave us our FIRST PIN! The Buenvienedos Peru pen. I died a little because I didn’t know we would get one every day of our trip. I thought we only get Machu Picchu.

Tomorrow we leave at o’dark thirty for Cusco and travel to the Sacred Valley for 4 nights.

¡Hola from Lima, Peru! Our very first stop in South America!

After a smooth flight, we were through immigration in record time—seriously, the easiest international arrival ever! The Adventures by Disney rep was waiting right outside with a sign (felt like a total VIP moment!) and had us off to our transfer in no time.

Lima is perched on the Pacific coast and is the capital of Peru—known for its rich history, stunning colonial architecture, and world-famous food scene. Fun fact: while it’s springtime back in the U.S., we’ve just arrived at the start of fall down here in the Southern Hemisphere!

We’re getting settled tonight, and tomorrow we head out to explore the historic center of Lima—plazas, cathedrals, and stories just waiting to be uncovered.

First time flying LATAM…Latin America Airlines…today. Excited to try a new airline to take us to a new (to us) continent!!

We spent our time between flights in LATAM’s Lounge and wow was it NICE!!!! One of the best we’ve been in. Great food and sodas in cans make me very happy! 🤣👏🏼

Annnnnnnnnd we’re off……

to Peru with !

Can’t wait to experience South America for the first time and all things 🇵🇪!

We will be exploring Lima’s historical area, heading up to Urubamba, Ollantaytambo, the Sacred Valley, Cusco and finally Miraflores.

We will be seeing the Moray Ruins, Salt Pans of Maras, white water rafting down the Urubamba River, the stones of Sacsayhuaman, hugging some llamas & alpacas and of course seeing Machu Picchu!!

Giddy about my Adventure Box for our Adventures by Disney Peru trip coming up in a few weeks!

Can’t wait to experience my first ABD trip and see all the things Peruvian including Machu Picchu!! 💫

We will have to Adventure guides with us on the entire trip…one local to the area and one from Disney. We have most meals included plus all of our hotels and our airfare from Lima to Cuzco. Side note: Did we also watch The Emperor’s New Groove recently as well?! Duh!! 🇵🇪🦙

There’s been a lot more prep for this trip than I usually do mostly because this will be my first time to South America.

We’re studying up on what to wear and what essentials we will need plus vaccines and meds for high altitude to prevent us getting sick.

Lots to learn but I’ll be posting a lot during our trip so you can follow along and find out about Peru with us!

I’ve just landed in this stunning city for the ASTA River Cruise Expo, where I’ll be stepping aboard 16 river cruise ships to experience firsthand what each cruise line has to offer. This week is all about deep-diving into the world of river cruising—learning the unique features, atmospheres, and experiences each line provides—so I can perfectly match my clients to their dream river cruise.

Before the conference kicks off, I made the most of our Vienna Pass with a visit to Schönbrunn Palace—the breathtaking former summer residence of the Habsburgs. 𝗔 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗢𝗿 𝗗𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗹: You never know when you’ll have a bag mishap or want to bring home souvenirs that won’t fit in your luggage. A foldable bag is a nice thing to have, just in case.

𝗔 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁: Depending on where you’re going, this is a good thing to have in your arsenal as a contingency plan.

𝗔 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗿 + 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘂𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗱𝘀: I can't travel without one...even on day tours/excursions. I don't want to miss ANY photo opps with a dead phone/camera.

𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗶𝗽𝗲𝘀: It’s never a bad idea to have these in your back pocket when you need them. Whether it’s for keeping things fresh, or in case you’re somewhere that doesn’t have TP readily available. (Yes, there are countries that don’t typically offer TP. 👀 Peru...I'm looking at YOU!! LOL)
