Koalas survive on a diet of eucalyptus leaves and can eat up to a kilogram a day! That is pretty impressive, considering eucalyptus is poisonous to most animals. Their particular fiber-digesting organ, called a caecum, helps to detoxify the chemicals in the leaves.

However, they can be pretty picky eaters, eating less than 50 of 800 eucalypt species. Even then, they’ll often choose leaves at the top of the tallest trees that contain more liquid and nutrients – only the best for Australia’s koalas!

Singapore is a city of man-made waterfalls.

According to the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, the first man-made waterfall was built at Jurong Bird Park in 1971. Dropping from a height of 30 meters, it is said to be the tallest waterfall in an aviary to date.

Other man-made summits to explore include Cloud Forest, and Gardens by the Bay. This huge, 35-meter waterfall is the centerpiece of the misty conservatory, designed to house plant life from the tropical highlands.

No trip to Singapore is complete without a visit to the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. Housed in the retail and lifestyle complex of Jewel Changi Airport, the HSBC Rain Vortex soars at 40 meters and is surrounded by a lush indoor garden.

Did you know that a Boeing 747 is more fuel efficient than your car?

The Boeing 747 burns about 1 gallon of fuel every second, or 5 gallons per mile. Reversing this gives us the figure of 0.2 miles per gallon of fuel. This is much lower than the average car's fuel efficiency at about 25 miles per gallon. But, considering the number of passengers the 747 carries, it is far more efficient. This breakdown explains that, because the plane can carry about 500 people, it's actually getting 100 miles per gallon per person.
