Jefferson Parish is kicking off the 2025 carnival season & celebrating its 200th birthday on 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗙𝗲𝗯𝗿𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 from 5-7pm at Lakeside Shopping Center.

The celebration will officially open the season and a full year of Bicentennial events.

Enjoy live music from The Jay Walkers Second Line band, as we honor the captains, kings, queens, and grand marshals of this year’s Carnival krewes.

We're thrilled to announce that Jefferson Parish will host League Joe Ultra Draft Party in the Bayou! The event will take place February 21st-23rd.

This holiday season, give your Christmas tree a second life by participating in Jefferson Parish’s Coastal Treecycling program! Your recycled tree will help build wave-dampening fences in the Barataria Basin, reducing coastal erosion and providing vital habitats for wildlife.

How to participate:
• Drop-off: Jan. 4-14 at 400 David Dr., Metairie, or 6440 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero.
• Curbside pickup: Place your tree out on Jan. 8 for collection Jan. 9-11.

Important Guidelines:
• No flocked, artificial, or painted trees.
• Remove all lights, garland, tinsel, ornaments, stands, and plastic bags.

Residents of unincorporated Jefferson Parish and the Town of Jean Lafitte are reminded to recycle their Christmas trees in an effort to help fight coastal erosion!

This year, there are two ways to recycle your Christmas tree:
1. Bring your tree to the David Drive (400 David Drive, Metairie, LA 70003) or Lapalco Boulevard (6440 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, LA 70072) drop-off sites from Saturday, January 4, 2025 through Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
2. Place your tree curbside the evening of Wednesday, January 8, 2025 and it will be collected on one of the following dates: Thursday, January 9, 2025, Friday, January 10, 2025, or Saturday, January 11, 2025.

Trees must meet the following guidelines in order to be recycled:
• No flocked trees
• No artificial trees
• No painted trees
• No lights, garland, tinsel, ornaments, tree stands or plastic bags

Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and the entire New Orleans community following this morning’s tragic events on Bourbon Street.

We stand with those who are grieving and offer our deepest condolences, wishing them comfort, strength, and healing during this difficult time.

We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the emergency workers and first responders who acted swiftly and bravely to help those affected.

Together, we mourn and support one another as we navigate this heartbreaking tragedy.
