Lukla Airport in Nepal is considered the most dangerous airport in the world! 🌍
Located at *2845 meters (9,334 ft) above sea level, it is the starting point for climbers heading to Mount Everest. Here are some of the features that make it so risky:
Short and sloping runway: The runway is only 527 meters (1,729 ft) long and has a slope of about 12 degrees, which makes takeoff easy but makes landing very difficult.
Mountain location: The airport is surrounded by mountains and cliffs, limiting maneuverability and making landing extremely difficult.
Unpredictable weather conditions: The weather can change rapidly, with strong winds, thick fog, and poor visibility, increasing the risk of takeoffs and landings.

Lack of advanced instruments: Unlike larger airports, Lukla does not have advanced instrument landing systems, so pilots must rely only on their eyesight and experience.

For these reasons, only highly experienced and specifically trained pilots are allowed to land or depart from this airport.
