Interested in history? Jackson Parish is the birthplace of Jimmie Davis--governor, actor, country music singer and songwriter. His signature song “You are my Sunshine” is one of the most recognized songs in the world. He build and later donated to the parish the non-denominational Jimmie Davis Tabernacle and the Jackson Parish Museum has exhibits and artifacts from each era of his life. Genealogists explore the many cemeteries tucked throughout the parish and several buildings from the 1800s remain here.
