Venus 🩷

The third brightest object in the sky only rivaled by the sun and the moon, Venus is currently very hard to miss in the western sky just after sunset.

Orbiting between Earth and the sun, Venus exhibts phases, like the phases of the moon. It is currently in its crescent phase, not noticeable to the naked eye but dazzling in our 12in telescope!

Venus is slipping closer to the sun in our sky as it makes its orbit. Its crescent phase getting ever thinner until it finds its way in front of the sun, a new Venus.

Only our ‘evening star’ for a couple more weeks, now’s a great time to catch the goddess of love!

The Orion Nebula ☁️

This cloud of gas 1400 light years away is large enough to hold thousands of baby solar systems. As the closest major star formation region to Earth, the Orion Nebula’s stars and reflective gas are bright enough to see with the naked eye.

Just below Orion’s famous belt are three stars marking the sword in his sheath. The middle of these is not a star at all but the light produced by this stellar nursery.

Visible to the unaided eye, a show stopper with a small pair of binoculars, and a portal to another world in our enhanced vision telescopes, we’re thrilled to welcome back this winter wonder.
