Camp Stevens needs your help getting kids to camp! The demand for campership funds (scholarships to attend a camp program) exceeds the amount of support camp can offer. Donate to this campaign between June 17 - July 17 and donations will be matched up to $20,000! That's a lot of kids getting the life changing experience of summer camp. Imagine this: you’re headed towards Upper Meadow and you get past the barbed wire fence and onto the straightaway before you cross the fence again to access the Meadow. You hear a rustling in the bushes and expect to see a Towhee kicking leaves or a lizard making a run for it. You turn your head and see this: THE CUTEST LIL FAMILY OF SKUNKS EVER. The wonders never cease around here, whether you’ve been here for years or are staying with us for the first time.

Camp is a place where people build meaningful connections and grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. That opportunity must be equally available, accessible, and relevant to
our transgender, non-binary and other gender expansive campers, counselors, staff, and guests.
In recent days, we’ve watched heartbreaking legislation sweep across the country, taking aim at the trans* youth in our communities. We would like to be absolutely clear in our messaging - trans* youth are welcome and supported by our camp and we will continue to stand for your rights as part of our human family.
Camp Stevens along with 100’s of other camps and camp professionals nation-wide signed a pledge today committing to the following:
We commit to continuing to educate ourselves and our community on justice issues that our trans* campers and staff may face.
We commit to making space for our campers and staff to use the pronouns that make them feel whole.
We work to ensure that all members of our camp community have access to a sleeping space that is equitable and safe for them, regardless of their sex assigned at birth.
As an Episcopal camp, we believe in the God-given dignity of each human being and we celebrate a rich diversity of campers and staff including national origin, creed, religious belief, color, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, family structure, and ability. You and your family are welcome, supported, and free to be yourselves here.
(Trans* is an umbrella term used by some including Transplaining to include a wide variety of gender expansive identities including transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, two spirit, agender and many more)
Retreat Center Manager Sam Brasted is the one who will help you through your booking/registration process whether you’re coming for family camps, retreats, day visits, or summer camp. She started at Camp Stevens a year ago, just before the world shut down so she’s just happy to finally have guests on site again. Over the camp closure Sam spent a lot of time at the chicken coop and it has become her favorite spot on camp. In addition to helping guests get registered and keeping the rest of us informed of their needs, Sam also helps prepare buildings, does dishes, leads activities, and helps out wherever needed. Sam loves meeting new people so get in touch with her at www.campstevens.org/visit-us or [email protected] to plan your visit to Camp Stevens!
