The cosmos' annual gift to sky watchers, the Geminids Meteor shower, will peak on Dec. 13-14 this year. During peak activity and perfect weather conditions, which are rare, the Geminids produce approximately 100-150 meteors per hour for viewing.

Great news! Julian's 35-year holiday tradition of Handel's "Messiah" returns this year with help from ECPAA.

The performance's longtime sponsoring organization, Julian Community United Methodist Church, asked if we would take over financial and production responsibility. With leadership and guidance from Kristi Holt and retired paster, Cindy Arnston, we happily agreed to look after this joyful piece of Julian's performing arts calendar for years to come.

We're thrilled that our beloved director, Garnette Welch, has agreed to return one more time to lead us as only she can.

If you've never attended or performed in this concert, you are in for a treat! We bring together a local community choir with professional vocal soloists and a string quartet (this year including members from the Hutchins Consort). For one performance only, a packed Town Hall experiences the power melodies and message of Handel's enduring masterpiece.

Want to sing? Choir rehearsals begin Saturday, 12/3, 10am at the Methodist Church.

Want to attend? Plan on getting there a little early. With no reserved seating for this popular free event, it's a good idea find your seats at least 20 minutes before the first note. Some diehards even enjoy the final dress rehearsal as the choir and other musicians come together.

Want to sponsor? We will never charge admission for this celebration; welcoming all to attend at no cost. As has always been the case, volunteers will pass the plate for a voluntary donation during the concert.

If you are able to contribute in advance to help underwrite the rising costs of our invited professional musicians, we welcome your tax-deductible donation. After many years of no change in compensation for the musicians driving from their distant homes on a December evening to perform with us, it seemed proper to increase their fees.
