SPECTACULAR! If you want to see what it looks like when Humpbacks eat while lunge-feeding, here you go. This is an Eden's whale "trap feeding" in the Gulf of Thailand. While not a Humpback, it is also a filter-feeder using the bayleens that line their mouths to filter in the small fish that make up their diet.

Can you believe we're turning away business because we don't have enough captains and would love another couple of captains who are available on an on-call basis to fill in some holes in our schedule.
Don't let the ginormous list of qualifications scare you. Some don't even apply
Besides being a qualified captain, you need to be excellent with guests. These are up-close and personal tours in a small vessel.
This position has VERY FLEXIBLE scheduling.

DESCRIPTION
• Commands, controls, and operates a 28-foot Express Cruiser that accommodates six passengers per company policies and procedures and applicable safety regulations; Responsible for navigation, ship handling, and maneuvering
• Plans and conducts safety drills and trains crew by following U.S. Coast Guard regulations and policy; ensure crew proficiency in the performance of duties
• Ensures the vessel under their command complies with applicable federal and state regulations and certificates are current
• Maintains all equipment in accordance with required phase maintenance schedules, and discrepancies are corrected as soon as possible; assists mechanic in troubleshooting the nature/repair of major mechanical problems
• Maintains high standards of excellence in passenger services and performs their duties with enthusiasm and energy.
• Maintains operational and maintenance logs as necessary
• Maintains vessel appearance and cleanliness to the highest standards
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• U.S. Coast Guard 6-Pack License. (Extra points for U.S. Coast Guard 100-ton Master's License or Five (5) years of Captain or First Mate experience in a vessel rated 50 tons or more, with operational experience both day and night in Southeast Alaska waters.•)
• Experience providing excellent customer service to passengers and the ability to serve as the tour guide on Southeast Alaska marine tours
• Current CPR and first aid certificates
• Five (5) years of Captain or First Mate experience in a vessel rated 50 tons or more, with operational experience both day and night in Southeast Alaska waters.
• Current Driver's License and an acceptable driving record
• Ability to successfully pass drug testing and background check

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (education, experience, skills)
• Mechanical skills and understanding of marine maintenance practices
• Exposure to and familiarity with all aspects of passenger transportation

As the longest day of the year, it's 11 hrs., 54 min. longer than the Winter Solstice (the shortest day of the year) in December. June 18 = the earliest sunrise, June 23 is latest.
