Thursday TRAVEL TIPS
Make copies of your passport. Tuck one copy away in a safe place in your home. Tuck one copy in your papers when traveling, not with your passport. Leave one copy with your closest family member or friend should you have a need to reach out to them for assistance during travel.

Global Entry - Make a copy and leave with your passport at home and also in your papers whe traveling.
Also, even though you are advised you do not need your card, some immigrations do want to see it. (Happened to me in Canada!)
Trick: Get one of the stick on pockets like for your credit cards on your iphone. Stck it inside the back cover of your passport and you will always have your card handy should you need it.

Expiration dates - They sneak up on us! Destinations that follow the 6 month beyond travel validity rule are NOT flexible.
Write on a sticky note the expiration date of your passport and your Global entry/TSA card. Stick it on your desk calendar (or make a note on your online calendar) for December. Each December, when you are changing over to the next year, either get ready to renew your documents the upcoming year if expiring or move the reminder notice to the next December.
Having to renew passports when you decide to take a trip out of the US can be just one more thing to think about when planning. However if you apply for the renewal at the start of the year of expiry, your passport is up to date, without thought and also ready and valid when that decision to travel comes up with short notice!!!! To always be safe, as soon as you begin to think of a trip out of US, go check your passport validity dates!

Travel professionals fees are charged for their expertise, time, services in planning and booking your trip.They include consultations, booking fees, research, change and cancellations as well as overall costs of calls and communications
Travel professionals charging fees is similar to a person working in a service providing job, they are paid to do the job but then also receive gratuities.

Travel professionals commissions are strictly paid by the suppliers such as hotels, cruise lines, suppliers for selling their products. The commission comes off of the cost that is same whether you use a travel agent or not.
The commission is like a gratuity only it is paid by the provider and not the client.

Ultimately, travel professionals are working for you and getting paid for the services they provide via the services fee. Most of the work that travel professionals do is prior to your confirming and taking the trip. Without charging travel agent fees, travel agents are essentially working for free and have no guarantee that all their work and expertise provided to a client is paid for. If they provide a client with all the research and info and then the client does not book the trip, they have worked for nothing.

Travel professionals earn your respect and faith by working for you as a paid provider. They share their expertise and commitment for the profession that they love and enjoy!

As a travel professional independent travel agency, there is value in what I provide and to realize that value in what I do, my services fees reflect my realization of my value.

Effective January 8, 2025, the United Kingdom will require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (UK ETA) for all U.S. and Canadian passport holders entering or transiting through the UK. Applications can be completed at link below. Be sure to allow up to three business days for processing. UK ETAs will be valid for two years from date of issuance.
