Did you know there is a second set of wind turbines on Maui? These are the Auwahi wind turbines off the Piilani Highway outside of Kula, in the Kanaio Natural Reserve Area. Grab a bite at or sips at & drive a little further to see these massive structures up close.

There’s a small shoulder with a few parking spaces available, including directional and interpretive signage to learn more! (You may also spot whales from this vantage point during the winter months.)

As we find ourselves between back to back tropical systems, this is a friendly reminder that the Hāna Highway should be avoided when heavy rain and wind is in the forecast. There have already been multiple trees down blocking the highway during the first storm. 🚧

Keep an eye on the weather as the next two systems approach the state. 🌧️
