In response to the devastating fires in Maui, Direct Relief is sending products to address the main health issues that commonly arise during fires and mass evacuations.

As a business whose sole reason for existence is to serve the people of Maui, we are turning the VIP 737 that is dedicated to ROAM Maui into an emergency supply chain solution, bringing essential goods and needed medicine to the island with a rapid response time of just outside 24-hours!

Member Testimonial 🤍🦽 ✈️ | 'We want to express our gratitude to ROAM for enriching the lives of our family.

My husband and I have our primary residence in WA and travel in the winter months, with our furry family member, to our place in Maui. We joined ROAM in November 2022, primarily to be able to spend valuable time in Maui with my younger brother Johnny, who was diagnosed in 2019 with a disease called Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). For the last 30 years, Maui has been his “happy place”, where he's spent time creating amazing memories with his wife and two children.

PPA is a neurological syndrome in which language capabilities become slowly and progressively impaired. PPA is caused by neurodegenerative diseases, such as early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease or Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration. PPA commonly begins as a subtle disorder of language, progressing to a nearly total inability to speak. Eventually, almost all patients become mute and unable to understand spoken or written language, even if their appearance and behavior seem otherwise normal. People with primary progressive aphasia are fighting against a condition in which they will continue to lose their ability to speak, read, write, and/or understand what they hear. Since Johnny's PPA is caused by early-onset Alzheimer's, not only is he dealing with losing the ability to communicate but he is also losing memories and struggling with comprehension. For PPA there is no treatment and no cure.

Travel is difficult at the best of times, but for those with PPA, traveling through the confusion and noise of a busy airport is very stressful. ROAM’s peaceful FBO travel makes it easy for Johnny and his wife, Stephanie to visit us in Maui, and allows him to continue to experience the best of a very special place that he loves. To watch Johnny smile as he enjoys boogie boarding in the Maui surf where communication with anyone else isn’t necessary, is simply priceless. In his case, we believe that ROAM has not only improved his quality of life but may have also extended his life through stress-free travel to the place he loves the most, Maui.

I know you think that ROAM provides air service to/from Hawaii from Seattle, San Jose and LA, but the ripple effects of your service go so much deeper. ROAM has enriched all of our lives and continues to provide the ability to gather, share and celebrate life while we still can. For that, we sincerely thank you.'
