Aloha All, Beginning on October 28th 2021, dolphin swimming will be banned in Hawaii. This action by NOAA was spearheaded by a former head of Dolphin Quest, the captive dolphin breeding facility on the Big Island. Dolphin Quest's quest has been a long-term campaign against their main competition for access to observing dolphins while in the water with them -- wild dolphin encounters. If Hawaii is to have a ban against observing dolphins in the open ocean, it should also carefully reconsider hosting a facility which pens, breeds, and distributes captive dolphins. NOAA should also take an active stance in protecting dolphins and whales worldwide from hunting such as in the Faroe Islands. With aloha, Roberta Goodman

Do whales and dolphins have answers to life?
After forty years of inquiry, I experienced a new perspective last winter. Mama Gray Whale with newborn glided alongside our skiff. Joy-filled fingertips stroked immense mottled bodies. Mama slid her slender forehead between my palms. In that moment of grace holding her silky skin, unconditional forgiveness washed over me. My heart, absolved of every hurt, flooded with gratitude. The Gray Whales offer us forgiveness for humanity’s inhumanity.

Canada Passes A Bill That Bans The Captivity Of Dolphins And Whales

For those who have asked where the dolphins would come from to participate in a Dolphin Release Research Center, I have said,
Build it and they will come ...

Cetaceans like dolphins and whales will no longer be kept in Canadian aquariums after the government passed a bill that prohibits their captivity.

Where It’s Okay to Pet the Whales

The ability to use a wide-angle lens—to be that close for so long—has spoiled me for life. Any whale coverage I make in the future is going to pale in comparison.”

This is a wonderful article about the intimacy of the Gray Whales. Although we cannot get into the water with the Gray Whales, they may come close enough to touch. Touching is not allowed in underwater encounters with whales as far as I'm aware.
