As of April 1, 2025, the eruption continues to unfold, showcasing molten lava flows and the dynamic forces shaping the Big Island.

This eruption is confined to a closed area of the park, but its effects—like volcanic gas (vog) and delicate strands of Pele’s hair—are felt beyond the crater.
