After 10 amazing years. I will be closing up shop. Before the end of the year I will be having a close out show with all sorts of redesign / ideas I've had rolling in my head. I'll also be having new products, because I love being a show off and going out with a bang (all these items will be one of a kind/limited collection).
Thank you to my amazing vendors, clients, and inspiration. You've allowed me to get through college, allowed me to care for others when called upon, moving around the country, and making a living on beautiful kauai. You really have been an amazing and important part of my existence.
Until the show (details to come much later) I will be taking limited orders and an thing you ever wanted to see on here suggestiins/ preorders for show.

It occurred to my the other day, that we have been in business for 9 years! I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate all my wonderful clients, collectors, vendors, and those that helped and supported me along the way. You are all so important in my life. What's new on etched by jak you ask? Jelly fish! Whenever I am on Oahu, and head to the aquarium there's one spot I love, that's the jelly fish tank. Although I prefer not to swim with them, there's something so calming, detailed and beautiful about them and the way they float around. Just being as they are. I love it! I want a tank of them. But for now I'm filling my shelves with my new favorite design. 2 more of my favorite things to come soon.

People often ask me what its like to be creative, I'm not sure how it is for others, but for me being creative is like having 10,000 apps open in my head all the time, being dyslexic amplifies it, but when I am actually doing art. even if all I am doing is doodling on whatever is handy at the time, that's when all the apps sync together in a single focus. It is never a eureka moment, rather everything else goes away, and its pleasantly comfortable and quiet. This is true regardless of how the naked eyes and ears view and process my surroundings.

To balance the elegance of my Etched by JAK line (which I hear people use on special occasions), I created the everyday glassware Wabi Sabi. So that everyday you can be reminded of the beauty of Kauai, and how it will always call you back home.
On Kauai we are known for being "Country". As a friend reminded me, being here is very humbling. We find our joy with family and friends, hiking or at the beach, and there is always food involved when we welcome you into our homes, you become part of our family. Kauai is a place where we take you as you are, and enjoy the status quo. Isreal Kamakawiwa'ole sang it nicely "its a simple life for me".
These are the things that inspired Wabi Sabi. "If an object or expression can bring about, within us, a sense of serene melancholy and a spiritual longing, then that object could be said to be wabi-sabi." I created small bowls, candle holders, large and small glasses all created out of recycled bottles, Japanese sea globes, and vases. More ideas being created everyday.
These glasses are so comfortable to hold, and the perfect size (I have replaced all my everyday drinking glasses with these, I love them so much). They are solid, and dish washer friendly.
Available online now, and in stores this summer.

Can you believe I have 22 designs (and countless custom designs)?
Joining the 13 best sellers, this year I redesigned 2 old designs, and added 7 new designs!!!
New design include: Starfish, sunrise shell, paddles, naupaka, calla lily, morish idol (angel fish), and iris.
Revamped designs: Bamboo and orchid
Best sellers: Hibiscus, heleconia, octopus, turtle, plumeria, koi, nautilus, pineapple, seahorse, sand dollar, lauae, maile, and hook.

Some designs are online exclusives and others are made exclusively for my long awaited WABI SABI line. (Yes I am super excited about these, and have replaced all my everyday water glasses with Wabi sabi.... I love them!)

I wanted to take the time to thank you to everyone who loves Etched by JAK as much as I do. It has been a wonderful 8 years since opening and I am honored to have so many collectors from around the globe. Thank you so much!
Along with all the new designs that came out this year (and are still coming), I have decided that its also time to revamp my glasses. New products will be offered (salad bowls, new vases, dessert cups, and more).
Along with that, I will also be offering one of a kind treasures. Pieces I have found over the years that are just too good to pass up, and some that I have created myself to make new.
