The very first extreme glow disc golf course was developed by Stephanai Myers, author of Disc Golf Michigan, at Hoxeyville Music Festival in Northern Michigan in 2009. Inspired by the Sherwood Forest, an enchanted forest featured at the Rothbury music festival, Stephanai and her team used 2,000 glow sticks, adorning the baskets with over 100 each and in the trees lining the fairways. The course wa
s super busy so we developed another glow course at Hoxeyville 2010, this time implementing 4,000 glow sticks in the same manner but adding suspended glowing hula hoops throughout the course. After realizing the potential to amp up the level of visual stimuli as well as to become more sustainable, we are now utilizing the solar powered LED lights in place of the glow sticks. The debut of the Solar Glow Disc Experience at the Electric Forest Festival was extra special to us because of the inspiration of Rothbury’s Sherwood Forest as well as our big love for Michigan and The String Cheese Incident. We're excited about our 2nd installation at Hoxeyville, our home festival, August 19-21.
