Happy ! This week we are shouting out Oakland Drive Park. Oakland Drive Park is a community park that offers a range of recreational facilities. The park features a large, open field ideal for sports like soccer, baseball, etc., along with a children’s playground that includes modern equipment. It has a picnic area equipped with tables and grills, making it a perfect spot for family gatherings. The park also offers a 1.3-mile paved trail, perfect for walking, running, or cycling. During the winter, the public can use the semi-steep hill for sledding and tubing.

Happy ! This week we are shouting out Echo Valley. This facility is a popular recreational facility known for its family-friendly activities. It typically opens during the winter in December and the remaining Saturdays and Sundays in January, February, and March (weather permitting). It offers thrilling tobogganing and tubing experiences, with a quarter-mile-long toboggan run and a separate tubing hill. The facility also features a warming 2100 sq.ft. lodge where visitors can relax with snacks and hot drinks.

Happy ! This week we are shouting out WMU's Lawson Ice Arena. The facility seats 3,667 fans and is a multi-purpose arena. It's adjacent to the natatorium in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and located on the far Southwest corner of Western Michigan University's main campus. The arena is built in a horseshoe-style with a concourse at the top. It is home to Western Michigan University Bronco Hockey, Western Michigan University D3 Club Hockey Team, and WMU Skating Teams.

Happy ! This week we are shouting out West Hills Athletic Club. This facility offers a variety of services to help guests of all ages achieve their fitness and health goals. They have tennis/pickleball courts with regular tournaments for people to compete in as well as group and individualized lessons to help you improve your game. Happy ! This week we are shouting out WMU Hyames Field. The WMU baseball team calls this field their home. It can be found on the corner of Stadium Dr. and Oliver St. It has ample bleachers and stadium seating for anyone who wants to watch. The Western Michigan University Athletics baseball team won the 2024 MAC championship this past year! So make sure to stay tuned into their upcoming season in the Spring.

Happy ! This week we are shouting out K College Mackenzie Field. It is a part of the K College Athletic Fields Complex. It is home to the Kalamazoo College Men's Soccer, Kalamazoo College Women's Soccer, Kalamazoo College Women's Lacrosse, and Kalamazoo College Men's Lacrosse. The facility seats 391 people and has a lit turf field featuring the Hornet logo in the center.

Happy ! This week we are shouting out the K College Baseball and Softball Fields. Part of the K College Athletic Fields Complex, these facilities are home to the Kalamazoo College Baseball and Kalamazoo College Softball teams. The baseball field seats 312 and has a composite dirt and grass infield, turf batting cages, and turf bullpen areas. The softball field seats 240 and has a composite dirt infield, grass outfield, in-ground dugouts, and a hitting tunnel.

Happy ! This week we are shouting out Timber Ridge Ski Area. In Gobles Michigan, the oldest ski hill in Southwest Michigan opens every year for winter sports enthusiasts. Last week, we had the privilege of hosting members of Compete Sports Diversity in Kalamazoo!

The visit included an engaging workshop featuring breakfast and roundtable discussions with local officials, community leaders, and sports event organizers. It was a fantastic way to explore how we can enhance diversity and inclusion in sports.

We also had the chance to connect with the fantastic team at Outfront Kalamazoo, enjoy delicious food and drinks at Bell’s Brewery, and tour our incredible sports venues and facilities, including River Oaks County Park and the Air Zoo. To top it off, we cheered on the WMU football team during their Homecoming game!

We genuinely appreciate Compete Sports Diversity for spending time with us and experiencing Kalamazoo's rich culture and diversity. We look forward to hosting more events that celebrate our vibrant community!

Happy ! This week we are shouting out the K College Natatorium. This facility opened in 2021 and is home to the Kalamazoo College Swimming & Diving teams. It seats 231 people and is just under 30,000 square feet. It features eight competition lanes, a separate diving area with two 1-meter and two 3-meter springboards, a 733 square foot dedicated dryland training room with two dry-boards, two trampolines, and spotting harnesses over all training stations.
