Happy first day of Winter also known as the Winter solstice. On this day it is the shortest daylight hours. In Hawaii, the sun rise and sun set does not change as dramatically as it does in the upper northern or far southern hemisphere during the year and the sunset occurred at 5:27 pm making it the longest night of the year. Making for beautiful star gazing opportunities all over the island.

Welcome back to our Humpback friends of the sea. One of our favorite seasons in Hawaii: Humpback whale season. Humpback whales spend the winter season in Hawaii to raise their young and compete for a mate. From late November to early March these majestic creatures can be seen breaching and smacking their tails and fins on the ocean surface. Sometimes you can even see a mother whale teaching her calf the importance of breaching or hunting for food along the volcanically formed reefs. Mele Kalikimaka and enjoy the winter season in warm tropical waters. 🐋
