January was a stunner

We don’t hunt mountain lions because we don’t like them or respect them. It is the absolute opposite. We hunt mountain lions with dedication because we understand and revere them as an apex predator ruling the most difficult kind of country. We understand that hunting them is the only means to helping manage their population. These skilled predators kill, on average, one deer per week; that’s 52+ deer a year. We hunt these spectacular animals with the utmost respect for the species and care for our dogs and team of guides.

40 years is a milestone by any measure.
What started as a veteran’s dream has grown into a setting that is a home to generations of colleagues, friends, and families.
Founded in 1985 and still owned by the same family today, the Flying B Ranch has seen decades of change, weathered challenges, grown, adapted, developed and thrived again and again.
This year we want to celebrate the 40 years we have experienced afield and most importantly, the ones we share it with. So be on the lookout for a lot of Flying B nostalgia mixed in with all we’re up to. Cheers to all who have been a part of it, and to the next 40 years! 🥂
It’s hard to put into perspective how long 4 decades is for a business, so here are some notes on what happened in 1985, besides the start of the Flying B….
🎥 IN 1985:
💻 Microsoft released Windows 1.0
📞 The first portable cell phone was released
⛽️ Average cost of gas was $1.20 /gallon
🇺🇸 President Reagan met for the first time with the Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev to attempt to end the Cold War
❄️Phoenix got 3 inches of snow in December
🥤 Coca-Cola changed its recipe to “Coke”
🎶 Wham! was #1 on the Billboard charts
✌️ 2 billion people around the world tuned in to watch the Live Aid concerts
🛜 The dot-com era began with the first registered website domain

He may be tiny, but he is fierce 🐾
This boy is the newest set of paws to join the Flying B Ranch mountain lion hunting team! Our big game manager brought home this puppy which will be hunting hard for our guests very soon!! Bringing home a new puppy in November is NUTS!… and so is he. Welcome Nuts to the crew! 🐾

Our guests have been taking advantage of the spectacular steelhead run this Fall by spending a day on the river after these big b-run we’ve been landing. 2 days of upland bird hunting and 1 day floating the scenic river for steelies. We call it a Cast & Blast but you could also call it perfection👌🏼
