Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Bicycle Tour Guide to join our team. As a Bicycle Tour Guide, you will lead small groups of cyclists on various routes across the Big Island (and perhaps Maui), providing insightful commentary, ensuring safety, and delivering exceptional customer service while focusing on educating our guests about the Hawaiiana and local areas to help the develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for Hawaii. As a hospitality company our primary goal is to anticipate our guests needs before they do and ensure an unforgettable experience in Hawaii.
Responsibilities:
Lead guided bicycle tours of various lengths and difficulty levels, catering to the needs and abilities of participants.
Provide engaging and informative information about the island's history, culture, geography, and points of interest along the route.
Ensure the safety of tour participants at all times by adhering to established safety protocols, monitoring traffic conditions, and providing guidance on proper cycling techniques.
Assist with bike setup and maintenance, including checking equipment for safety and functionality before and after each tour.
Offer assistance and support to tour participants as needed, including adjusting bikes, providing water and snacks, offering encouragement, and instruction.
Handle any issues or emergencies that may arise during the tour, including administering first aid and coordinating with local authorities if necessary.
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere among tour participants, encouraging camaraderie and a spirit of adventure.
Represent Big Island Bike Tours in a professional and courteous manner, consistently delivering high-quality service and exceeding customer expectations, even in less than ideal circumstances.
Qualifications:
A passion for cycling and a deep knowledge of the Big Island's geography, history, and culture.
Previous experience leading guided tours, preferably in a cycling or outdoor adventure setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent leadership and organizational abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety.
First aid certification and proficiency in bicycle maintenance and repair are highly desirable-but willing to train for repairs and maintenance.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours as needed, depending on tour schedules and customer demand.
Must be physically fit and capable of cycling long distances in varying weather conditions.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
