Fire Safety Tips from utahfiresense.org and utahfireinfo.gov

*Stay Off the Grass!
Park all vehicles, including UTVs, away from dry vegetation.

*Prep to Prevent
Check your brakes and tires before hitting the road. Worn brake pads, tires, and low tire pressure can create sparks.

*Don’t be a Drag!
Tighten trailer chains to prevent sparks from metal chains dragging on asphalt. Maintain trailers and RVs, including tire pressure, to prevent sparks.

*Keep your Cool
Check coolant levels to avoid vehicle overheating, which can ignite fires.

*Don't Drop it Like it's Hot
Ensure your fire is completely out before leaving. Feel it with the back of your hand to make sure it's cool.

*Old Flame? Keep in Touch
Never leave your fire unattended.

*Ring of Fire
Only start a fire in an approved firepit or cleared ground, following local fire restrictions.

*Earth, Wind, and Fire
Avoid starting fires on windy days. Always have water or an extinguisher nearby.

*Make the Right Call
Notify the local fire department before lighting stubble or burning debris.

*Fire Can Spread Faster Than You Think
Check local conditions and red flag warnings. If conditions aren't right, delay burning.

*Break it Up
Have a plan for controlling fires. Create fuel breaks as needed.

Opened in 1930, connecting SR 9 between the South and East Entrances.
Features tight turns, steep grades, and historic tunnels.

🚐 New Rules:
Vehicles wider than 7'10", taller than 11'4", or longer than 35'9" won't fit through the tunnel.

🌲 Get ready for a busy Independence Day Weekend at Zion National Park! 🌲

🚶‍♂️ Expect long lines at shuttles, restrooms, and trailheads, along with occasional closures at entrances. Be patient with rangers and fellow visitors.
🚻 Use restrooms before hitting the trails.
🌡️ Prepare for triple-digit heat: pack water, snacks, and sun protection. Hike early or late! Check the forecast to avoid flash floods and lightning.
🔥 Fire restrictions in place: no campfires or charcoal fires, use LPG stoves only. No smoking within 3 feet of vegetation.
🗑️ Pack it in, pack it out to reduce trash.
🚗 Traffic and parking will be heavy. Use the free Springdale Shuttle if possible. Consider alternate routes around the park if planning to visit the communities on either side. Park in designated areas to protect the environment. The parade in Springdale will close State Route 9 on July 4th from about 8:30 am until mid-morning.
🎆 Fireworks are NOT allowed in Zion.

Recreate responsibly and help everyone have a great visit! For more info, visit www.nps.gov/zion

🚨 Zion Canyon Fire Restrictions Start June 8 🚨

Starting June 8, Zion National Park will enforce fire restrictions.

*No smoking near vegetation or building campfires in Watchman Campground. This will stay in effect until lifted by the park superintendent.
*Setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using open fires of any kind in the park in general, and specifically campfires and charcoal fires within Watchman Campground or picnic areas in Zion Canyon.
*Stoves fueled by petroleum or liquid Propane Gas (LPG) fuels are allowed.
*Smoking in vegetated areas, except within an enclosed vehicle or a developed recreation site or stopped in an area devoid of vegetation at least 3 feet (1 meter) in diameter.

Violations are punishable by a fine of up to $5,000, imprisonment for not more than six months, or both.

Why?
A wet winter led to tall vegetation, but now invasive grasses like cheatgrass are drying out, posing a significant fire risk.

💡 Safety Tips:
Park away from dry plants.
Ensure trailer chains don’t drag.
Fireworks are always prohibited.

Our Story

“As the Great Spirit was building the mighty Rocky Mountains of North America, His toe caught on one of the tall peaks, and He fell. Below him, the earth’s tender surface was torn open and created a Grand Canyon. As he arose, the Great Spirit raised his Mighty Hand and caused the earth’s surface to erupt into convoluted heaps of folds, wrinkles and Grand Stair Steps.

The Great Spirit paused and was pleased with His changing creation. Great care and much time were taken to organize and beautify the face of the earth lying around Him. He sent the inland sea of Southern Utah away, which revealed the great rocks of the earth rising into incredible pillars, spires and natural bridges. The land was shaped with His myriad snake canyons of Lake Powell, the colorful steps of the Grand Staircase, and undulating sandstone formations of Coyote Buttes. And of course: The Grand Canyon.

On the final day of his Creation, the Great Spirit created his greatest work of all. From the dust of the Earth, he formed Man, to have joy.”

When you think you’ve seen it all, come to Southern Utah. Intimate and unspoiled, a rugged epicenter of adventure with beauty to spare. The uncrowded spectacle of the Grand Canyon’s North Rim, the towering pinnacles of Zion National Park, the bizarre hoodoos and rock amphitheaters of Bryce Canyon, the stark solitude of the 1-million-acre expanse of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, the beautiful water slot canyons of Lake Powell, and numerous other remarkable locations are all waiting to be seen. Southern Utah has the highest concentration of natural wonders found anywhere on earth; there’s colors out here they don’t even have names for.
