Shaka On 🤙🏽
The “shaka” is a hand gesture that originated in Hawaii and has become a symbol of aloha spirit, friendship, and positivity. The story behind the shaka varies, but one popular version involves a local Hawaiian named Hamana Kalili.
As the story goes, Hamana Kalili worked at a sugar mill on the island of Oahu in the early 20th century. One day, while working on the plantation, he lost three fingers in a work-related accident. Despite the injury, Kalili remained positive and continued to work, using his thumb and pinky finger to wave at passing trains.
