My quest to have this horse named, “Mr. Coatney,” continues. You’ll find him by the water trough on the East side of Kaufman’s downtown square. The water trough has a history of its own. But my push to have the horse named, “Mr. Coatney,” is in honor of Charlie “Peppermint” Coatney. A gracious, kind man who for years went around Kaufman handing out peppermint stick candy. He was the epitome of Kaufman’s spirit of hospitality. And I can promise you if I prevail in this campaign, there will be a celebration that involves peppermint candy sticks.
