Grace Maloley, member of Alpha Omicron Pi- Phi Sigma spent her spring break exhibiting our community's pillar of scholarship and leadership by studying aboard in the Czech Republic with other FSL community members and UNK Students. Check out her story, why she went, and what she learned!
My name is Grace Maloley, and I am a sophomore in AOII! I recently went to the Czech Republic over spring break for a marketing trip and it was so eye-opening. The class I took to go on the trip, MKT 474, involves creating a marketing plan for one of three companies alongside other students from Palacký Univeristy in Olomouc, Czech Republic. During our time there, we visited all three of our potential clients, which are a cheese producer, a beehive device startup, and a museum. We also went sightseeing in both Olomouc and the capital, Prague, and we went to a winery and a brewery. I decided to go on this trip because I loved studying abroad the first time I went last summer, and the class sounded very interesting to me, especially working in a group with Czech students who were halfway across the world. My biggest takeaway was how different European cultures are compared to the US- ranging from drinking water with no ice to leading a slower pace of life altogether. I highly recommend studying abroad or even traveling to another country to anyone and everyone!
