Looking beyond the pastoral battlefield provides one a spectacular 50-mile view extending to the mountains of Western Maryland. Between the awesome sunsets and the abundant wildlife make it a perfect place for relaxation.

tory. While only 10 minutes from Antietam battlefield, several other battlefields are within easy driving distance: South Mountain battlefields, Monocacy battlefield, Harpers Ferry, Gettysburg. Use Gathland State Park as a starting point for some day hiking on the Appalachian Trail - 6 miles away. Or drive 10 miles over to the C&O canal for some easy hiking or if you bring your bikes – some relaxing bike riding. Other activities: Wine tours, Outlet shopping in Hagerstown and Gettysburg, antique stores, restaurants - all close by and easy to get to.
