We have seen old friends and met new ones.

How I identify the bonebed? The Permian specimens can be found isolated, in hard stone matrix,, in channel deposits that form conglomerate beds, in mudstones that represent overbank ponds or semi-stagnant slow-moving streams, ponds, lakes, or locations deposited by floods, and in paleosol clays. Each location type can produce amazing specimens. The midst one in this location is anywhere from 50mm to 500mm thick and is full of Xenacanthid shark teeth and spines as well as float material from terrestrial and aquatic vertebrates.

The larger Eryops material was found near the mudstone layer.

This is an interesting piece from the new Young County, TX site. This is a partiality articulate Eryops vertebrae with the vertebral rib processes in place. On the bottom is a inner centrum nearly in correct position. On top of the basal section of the neural arch is a post-sacral inner centrum. I do not see any pluera centra but the piece overall is a rare assemblage of the rhachitomous Eryops vertebrae. Pretty cool
