What's new in Branson? A huge new attraction is coming in 2025!

The people behind Kentucky's Ark Encounter have announced an all-new attraction in Branson! They have purchased the iconic Andy Williams Moon River Theatre and will completely make it over into an interactive virtual reality experience. There will also be a second location of the attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. From their press release...

"Truth Traveler transports guests back in time, immersing them in pivotal moments in biblical history with a custom animated 5D Virtual Reality ride complete with motion benches and haptics for a full sensory experience.

At the Branson location, in the former Andy Williams Moon River Theater, guests will be immersed in the experience from start to finish, beginning with a lively pre-show to set the narrative. Inside the Virtual Reality bays, they'll embark on a thrilling and inspiring journey, meticulously crafted by The Mill, a production company renowned worldwide for their exceptional expertise in creating top-tier productions that captivate audiences. Afterward, the guests will continue into a 1200-seat theater that will showcase a tailored show, scheduled to play twice hourly throughout the day, seamlessly enhancing and extending the VR narrative.

As dusk falls, the theater will transform into a venue for nightly live performances or concerts, ensuring guests are able to fully partake in multiple, unforgettable entertainment options. This location is projected to open in March 2025."

The practice of cruise lines is to advertise a cruise featuring the base price of their cheapest inside cabin, not even including required costs of port fees and taxes. The actual cost of taking the cruise is typically at least 50% more than the advertised price.

Something is finally being done about it. Effective July 1, cruise lines must include at least the port fees and taxes in the advertised price. It still won't include gratuities in the quote, even though it's automatically added to every passenger while on board.

At Senior Getaways, we include in our advertised prices everything it you need, including estimated airfare, transfers to the ship, trip insurance (don't leave home without it!) and more. It's all spelled out on the website. What's the point of advertising a cruise for $1200 when it will cost at least twice that to take it?

We think that is something our cruise travelers appreciate.

Our first day at sea on the 15 day Panama Canal cruise, we had a private reception in Skywalkers on deck 16. A few people missed the group picture. We will try again later.

We have a group of 75 on an Athens-to-Israel-to-Rome cruise in November. Today I was notified that Princess is dropping the two ports in Israel and substituting two Greek Islands and Ephesus, Turkey. We are disappointed to miss Israel but excited to cruise the best of the Mediterranean!

Santa flew his sled all the way from the North Pole to film a segment for our Christmas Show here in Branson! We had to tell him that Dominic has been naughty this year, but Catherine has been an angel! Ho ho ho! 🎅 ❄️🎄

Well, the summer break is quickly coming to an end. We've begun updating the website. We should be adding trips soon. We are planning a trip to Jefferson, Texas for the Christmas Candlelight tour in December, and of course there will be more cruises next year.

Last month's new Unexpected Oklahoma tour, March 28-31, was a huge success! Great memories of oilmen, Native Americans, and outlaws, with some Route 66 thrown in for good measure. We are inspired to repeat it next year!

We followed up with our seventh Painted Churches trip last week, April 17-19. Wow! This one never gets old! We had a few on this trip that has been on this tour before, including one couple who were on last November's Painted Churches trip.

Everyone asks, "What's next?" We are taking a little break for the summer, but watch this space!
