Time to get back to some fishing soon… the waterfowl grind has been unreal but so much fun!
I feel blessed getting the opportunity to finally harvest another crane, + be apart of JT Lott harvesting his first crane.
These birds came over out of range and too high early in the morning. A buddy hunting miles away saw them also… so 2 hours go by, all of a sudden with out making a sound, they were flying back over us and this time they were plenty in range.

Clients were feeling out of the fishing spot since we had to wait our turn to get in.
Quite literally, after dropping the anchor, just a few seconds go by and my homie’s custom painted plug got crushed. I’m bouncing eggs when the bite happens and am waiting for the fish to get closer before I reach for the net… 10 ft on the line counter. Alright it’s time, I’m thinking, so I reel mine in a few feet, go for my net and hand my rod to the next client to finish reeling in my eggs. I get my guys in position and get my spot to net, I look down at my oar and, there’s a silver doing a gator roll and shaking his head.
My client holding my egg rod didn’t get the words, “I think I have something” out of his mouth before I scooped mr. coho up immediately followed by the plug biter!
September 3rd-8th is available for morning and afternoon trips, 9th afternoon is available, 10th-13th morning and afternoon wide open!

I love my job.
One thing about public access fishing, is watching the lack of ethics for these salmon. For me, being able to teach people the right way to engage with nature, in a way you leave the smallest footprint, is what I’m required to do as a guide, a steward of the resource and a teacher, at the end of the day.
It’s small moments like these that make me smile when I know, my footprint was left on my client(s) and they won’t forget what I have taught them!
It’s part of why I do what I do!🤙🏽🎣

Been catching up on my sleep, packing for moose camp during the day, but also fishing late at night and letting the guides hit it in the morning, to avoid traffic, more like… to find a parking spot.
Fishing under the full moon, has been very productive.
Saturday morning, we are seeing a change in regulations to allow bait to be used, but the limit is shorted down to one coho per person.
September 1st the kenai goes to 2 fish pp, the Kasilof will stay at 1 per person for September.
Once I acquire my Kenai permit, we will be on the Kenai quite a bit more than just for fun fishing.

Today was my first day off since July 31st and I definitely glad I got the sleep, but I’d like to not slow down at all! Tomorrow morning, the 19th is on-call to be booked. Nothing until the 24th.
Here’s a couple coho I was apart of with my friends n clients, over the last few days, + a solid sockeye push in the mix, too!
Can’t wait for them silvers to be in thick!

Ice fishing is just around the corner…🧊
Some of my favorite fishing takes place in the fall, winter, and spring. When Alaska feels like Alaska the most to me.
Listening to coyotes yip and howl throughout the night, camped in a tent, sleeping on a cot, in the middle of a lake without a human in earshot. You’re fishing for multiple species with two rods and, you’re dry the whole time. I swear, I sleep better on a lake than I do in my own bed, it must be the fresh cold air that I’m breathing all night.
P.S. that’s a 10” hole for reference , if the fins weren’t bent back to her body she wouldn’t have fit.

First fish ever for T, n Michelle, over the last few days! Can’t get spoiled the first time out but everyone caught fish n it was a good time nonetheless!
Silvers are getting caught slowly but surely while sockeye fishing and I have plenty of availability for the month of August, just ask!

Clare n Zach, put on a clinic today.
First demonstration cast was a fish. I was able to catch my 6 fish in about 15 minutes of fishing, once we hit 15/18, we got some pics before I cut fish and they got their last 3.
I don’t think this fishing is slowing down anytime soon. Today was a 3 person limit in about 2 hours.
