We have a HUGE secret!!!!

Our friends at mountainviewvacations have been dreaming of bringing back the Stowe Balloon Festival for years — and two years ago, they approached us with the idea. After many conversations and lots of planning, it’s making its debut in the von Trapp fields!

Mountain View Vacations and von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort will be Co-hosting the Stowe Balloon Festival! Flying through Trapp fields June 27th-29th.

More details regarding booking rides and tethers to follow shortly.

Lodging will be available at von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort and private home bookings with Mountain View Vacations. We expect this to sell out quickly. More details on advance ticket purchase, sponsorship, and balloon rides will follow this week.

With a special recognition of von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort’s 75th anniversary.

We will have music, crafts, over ten balloons, and more!!!

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning, so six more weeks of winter it is!! That's ok with me cause I love winter flying and the weather here has not cooperated much with ballooning lately. I want some snow flights!!

Happy FAVIA Day! On this day in 1793, 232 years ago, the First Air Voyage In America launched from the Walnut Street, Philadelphia prison yard. Jean Pierre Blanchard took off at about 10 am and flew about an hour, landing 15 miles away in Deptford, NJ.

Ballooning was “first in flight” by well over 100 years before the Wright brothers.

Might’ve invaded the Quiet Corner of CT this afternoon for what turned out to be a fantastic flight, albeit our slowest speed/shortest distance flight in a long time. We covered a whooping 1.2 miles in an hour 😂😂

Santa threw every excuse in the book at us about sleeping in today - too many toys to load, Rudolphs nose needs a new bulb, the sleigh needs a paint job, I’ve got an all-nighter coming up, blah blah blah.

So the not-so-mean one, Mr Grinch, stole the balloon and went out to spread some Christmas cheer this morning. The beeping horns, the waving/screaming kids, & most importantly all the SMILES were fantastic during our flight. And those who stopped for a photo at our landing were even treated to candy canes.

Fingers crossed we get to do this a couple more times before the big day. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll drag out the jolly ole fat guy for a flight.
