My favorite things…
When we were designing the interior of Big View House, many elements were planned. But some details were happy surprises!😊

#1 - The ☀️sunny treehouse feeling in the corner of the dining room. You see the river through the treetops 🌊🌳It’s my favorite spot to have ☕️ & plan the day exploring Kernville✨

#2 - A BIG design decision - the green kitchen! We took a chance on the unusual color & are very happy with the result✨It’s an unexpected way to bring in the mountain feeling 🌄

#3 - Of course the fireplace had to be made of river stone🪨 The rocks were found on our property! Perfect material for the central feature🔥 and reminds me of the river outside 🌊

#4 - We transformed an unused breezeway into a Plant Atrium🌿🌱🌿 Blocked off the walkway, added skylights☀️ - now this 🤫secret garden is only viewable from the upstairs bathrooms. I love this little treat!✨

#5 - The lovely wood counter mounted on the riverside balcony. 🌳The wood is from a felled tree from our Sequoia National Forest. Now it serves as a relaxing perch for watching nature flow by The Kern River House✌️

📣We’re Calling It! Kernville SUPER BLOOM this year🌸🌼🌺 These pics from 2019 wildflower season here when we last got good rain/snow. But 2023 is 📈📊 ↗️🆙 so flowers will be poppin’ all over town! Already seeing California Poppies, California Goldfields + young Lupine.
👀Come see the painted 🎨hills mid March - early May. Visit midweek to avoid any crowds✌️🙂

⭐️Big Daddy Rapids! Ask any local, they’ll know this Class 3 Rapid. A highlight of an upper Kern Rafting trip🌊in Spring.

🙂excuse the drama but I’ve been meaning to post this for awhile now.🤠
Our 3 listings: Big View House, Lookout House & River’s Edge Cottage are the same house! We can close off areas to to create smaller listings.

🤔Why do we do this? It allows us to offer the property to different group sizes & budgets! Not everyone needs the whole house, but some people want that extra space☺️

🤔But you know what everyone gets? The assurance of being the only guests in the house & on the property. With their own private river access. That’s always available!

🤓I hope this explains our listings! Oh yeah - River Willow Cabin & Moonshine Trailer are rented 1 way each, no secrets there😉

a big attraction for visitors to Kernville is the Giant Sequoia grove, Trail of 100 Giants. The drive up has changed drastically due to last year’s wildfires.🌲 We documented our first trip up there since the fires & wanted to share the new experience! ✌️

And we got to give a tour of the Big View House, one of our waterside properties. We put so many thoughtful & personal details into the design - it's fun to have an audience to share this with.
