People always ask about the long night in the winter. Right now the sun rises around 7:53am and sets around 3:20pm we have a total of 7 hours and 25mins of day light in Ketchikan Alaska right. We should get down to 4 hours of daylight here soon🫤 hear a picture of a beautiful sunset couple days ago right out my living room window. The days maybe short of day light but the sunsets make up for it

For those who are fans of torrents of water falling from the sky, the most recent round of systems has definitely put the 'rain' in rainforest, or the 'winter' in Alaskan Winter (or both, depending on the location). Here are some of the current 72 hour totals measuring rain (or liquid content, for areas which received snowfall). Some locations like the Silvis Powerhouse have seen up to 10 year return intervals over the 3 day timeframe with all the rain moving through.

Ketchikan Airport (not shown in the graphic below), even shattered a daily rainfall record back on Monday, December 1st when it recorded 6.38 inches of rain. That record had stood since the previous record of 5.33 inches was set back in 1915 - more than a century ago.

Our town needs prayers. We had a bad landslide last night took out multiple houses. A couple are in the hospital and one has passed away as of right now there was another landslide last night in a different area and not sure if there has been another landslide and the same area. Please be patient with us and send lots of prayers.

Last night, the Aurora was absolutely beautiful for Alaska in my hometown. They were magnificent up here in Anchorage. This is what I got. If you’re touring to Alaska at this time of the year, make sure to go out on the boat and look up!!!

I had a small group today but probably one of the best this man right here is 93 years old and he was a kick in the pants. We had a fantastic day! He really wanted to see bald eagles we seen about 20 and as we were just enjoying the Eagles around a pod of orcas decided to swim by!!! Memorizing experience for him and to be able to experience that with him was amazing and memorizing I will never forget you  George!!!! Thank you to you and your family for choosing to go on a tour with me today!

Good morning from the overnight crew. Yesterday was a rainy day across the panhandle. With it being so rainy, we broke the record for rainfall in Ketchikan for the day. This won't get rid of the abnormally dry conditions being experienced across the area but it does help.

I didn't receive any video, but my tour group had a wonderful time. There were 24 orcas today in a pod and a smaller pod of two, which appeared to be a mama and her baby. They swam close to shore, and it was beautiful. If I'm not mistaken, the pod of orcas is currently near Metlakatla. Although we didn't see any bears today, we did see many eagles and a lot of orcas! What a great day. 🐳 🦅 🩵 🌸 ☀️
