How much marine debris can we clean up with half a million dollars? ⚖️ We’re gonna find out! Goal: Clean Seas Florida Keys and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation have been awarded $527,139 by Hilton Global Foundation, The Marine Debris Foundation and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science TRAP (Trap Removal Assessment and Prevention) program. With these generous awards we will be able to fund 1,000+ recreational divers to be educated and engaged in 70+ Goal: Clean Seas dives in NOAA Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. These divers and the Goal: Clean Seas dive crew from participating dive shops will work together to remove thousands of pounds of marine debris, namely derelict fishing gear, from vital habitats within the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

Hats off to the 13 dive shops that will be doing the work: Amoray Dive Center, Horizon Divers, Pirate’s Cove Watersports, Island Ventures, Quiescence Diving Services, Rainbow Reef Dive Center, The Dive Shop at Ocean Reef Club, Key Dives, Conch Republic Divers, Captain’s Corner Scuba School, Southpoint Divers, Islamorada Dive Center, Captain Hook’s Dive Center.
