First operational in 1873, Alligator Reef Light has become the iconic upper keys lighthouse image. Named after the Navy Schooner Alligator that ran aground in that location in 1822, it stands over 135' above the water. Nowadays it is the ideal spot for visitors to snorkel and enjoy our beautiful waters.
