In 1775, Cherokee warrior Dragging Canoe warned settlers that this land would forever be “dark and bloody.” Soon after, it became the starting point of the Trail of Tears, sending thousands of Cherokee people on a deadly journey west. The Civil War followed, turning Chattanooga into a battlefield soaked in blood. Fires, floods, and destruction continued to haunt the city for centuries.
But what if this was more than just history?
At Chickamauga Battlefield, soldiers spoke of a strange green mist with glowing eyes—a presence seen before battle even began, as if something ancient was watching. To this day, visitors report eerie whispers and shadows that move on their own.
Then there’s The Read House, home to one of the most haunted hotel rooms in America. In Room 311, a woman named Annalisa Netherly was found with her throat slashed ear to ear. Guests staying there today wake up to unseen hands touching them, flickering lights, and the feeling that something is still lurking in the darkness.
Coincidence? Or proof that Chattanooga is still living under Dragging Canoe’s curse?
