Maui Escape Oceanview at Kamaole Sands

Have you ever watched the full moon rise?

Join us on Sunday, June 4th, at the Observation Deck on Puʻuʻulaʻula (Red Hill Summit) from 8 - 9 PM for the Full Moon Night program! Reservations are not required.

Visitors should dress warmly for cold, windy weather, and bring plenty of snacks and water. Red lights are recommended.

The program begins after sunset, but there may still be traffic at the entrance station and summit area, so please allow extra time to enter the park and drive to the summit. It is a 30-minute drive from the Summit District entrance station to the Observation Deck at Puʻuʻulaʻula (Red Hill Summit).

Come one, come all! Haleakalā National Park will be hosting a weekend of Telescope Parties Friday and Saturday on August 26 and 27!✨

The festivities begin each evening with a star talk at 7:30 followed by telescope viewing at 8 pm. Park staff and volunteers will be available with telescopes until 9 pm both nights so you can sneak a peak at solar system neighbors and galactic giants. The parties will occur outside the Haleakalā Visitor Center at 9,740 feet.

If you plan to attend, please keep these tips in mind:
- Dress in warm layers! The summit temperatures drop after sunset.
- Arrive early. Sunset congestion in the park can make entering and finding a parking spot a challenge.
- BYOC--bring your own coffee (or cocoa!) and red lights if you have them.
