Who’s experienced “The Maui Blues”? It’s VERY REAL!
Most times it hits a few days prior to leaving - when the realization that your time on Maui is about up. For some it hits once they return home. What are the symptoms exactly? It can be a little different for each of us but for me it usually hits about 3 days before I leave. I get quiet and pensive and I’m in a funk. Your stomach is kinda upset, you’re depressed even though you’re in paradise and you ask yourself “what’s wrong with me?!” Yup - those are all signs of The Maui Blues. There is only one cure and that’s to book your next trip. It’s amazing knowing that you’re returning ;especially once you have a date set, how much better you’ll start to feel. It’s crazy - it makes no sense but we are under threat of a proposal to eliminate being able to rent our vacation rentals for short term stays. Please voice your SUPPORT to keep our existing zoning. Condo accommodations are great alternatives to staying in a hotel - not only are they more affordable but guests get more space- including full kitchens & laundry facilities. Who’s been to Makawao? Make sure to add this quaint little town to your itinerary when visiting Maui! The cutest shops and boutiques, great art galleries and yummy places to eat & explore! Recently took my two daughters there for an afternoon. One of our favorite places to eat is the Garden Cafe. Only open until 2 and tucked behind Sherri Reeve Gallery & Gifts / they have the best sandwiches and salads! We stopped in at Sherri Reeve’s to say “hello” / the most talented person and super sweet! Great place for souvenirs and gifts that are truly Maui inspired! There are so many great little spots to shop and for sure one of our favorites was the Designing Wahine Emporium. Not only do they have an incredible selection for women, men and kids / they also have great home decor and gifts. Plus you never know who will be shopping with you … (see video) Gotta love

Where have all the tourists gone?
Sunday of Labor Day weekend (one of the busiest?) Kaanapali Beach, Maui. These two catamarans are two of the most popular for visitors to book but at noon they are moored and empty.
We attended Kumulani Harvest church in Kapalua and the Pastors wife, Kathy Laurie, was asking the congregation to please share the word that MAUI IS OPEN- businesses are suffering, vacancies are high and Maui needs tourism dollars to sustain the island economy.
