When is it ok to visit Maui again? - There's been a ton of mixed messages. Whether you like it or not, tourism is the main engine of our economy here on Maui. Lahaina is off-limits, but the rest of Maui is open.

HOW TO VISIT MAUI WITH RESPECT IN 2023:

• Stay out of any affected areas. Lahaina is off-limits.
• Take a day to volunteer. Ask a concierge or host.
• Be mindful of people’s feelings. We all feel it.
• Consider donating to Maui Humane Society, Maui Strong Fund, Maui Food Bank, Maui Mutal Aid & more.

West Maui is currently closed. Keep an eye out for updates, and things are changing daily.

Hey, as many of you know, I am sorta from Maui. I moved there when I was 15 years old and lived there on and off till about 25 years old. I still have much family who lives there and they want you all to know that Maui is open for business. They are more than open for business. They need your business! Plan a trip you won’t regret it! God out did himself when he created these islands! Your jaw will drop with her natural beauty🌺

Tragedy in Lahaina - And the rest of the island
We’re all heartsick for the people of Lahaina. But many of the more than 90% of the island NOT directly impacted are beginning to worry about their jobs.
As the Mayor said yesterday, WEST Maui is closed. The remaining 90% of the island still depends on tourism for their jobs, which enables them to assist those in even greater need. Uninformed media sources and some social figures are putting out messages to the contrary, telling people they ought to stay away from the whole island. We need to get the word out that the Aloha spirit is alive and well on most of the island.
This message may seem self-serving coming from an owner of a vacation rental in Wailea. But I’ve spoken to both friends and employees over there in the last few days and without exception, they want and need (respectful) visitors.
Consider giving to Mauistrong.com, the Maui Food Bank, or the American Red Cross. We will also give 10% of any revenues from our place to those organizations for the remainder of the year. (Or guests can donate directly and we will take the proportionate revenue off their total.) We hope other vacation rental operators will follow.
