Did you know that the Hawaii's three tallest peaks, Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea and Haleakala, all get snowfall in the winter? Also, winter isn't necessarily a prerequisite for Hawaiian snowfall as the summit of Mauna Kea briefly had about 1.5 inches of snow in July 2015!

According to the NWS, a “wintry mix of snow and freezing rain expected,” with total snow accumulations of up to 6 inches between the 12,500 and 13,000 foot elevation.

So exciting, first whale sighting of the season!

Whale Alert! Whale Alert! Instant mood lifter! Our friend and photographer Jason Moore (Jason Maui ) just shared a photo (taken approx 910 am) of what we believe to be Maui's (and Hawaii's) first whale sighting. He was aboard a Trilogy catamaran. Looks like the sighting began around 8:30 am. Woop Woop!
His words "First whale of the season🎈🎉🎯!!!"
Interestingly enough, it's the same day as last year's first sighting on Maui 10/8 by Makai Adventures.
CONGRATULATIONS Michael Burris! You were the closest to the date/time with October 7th at 12:25 pm (roughly 21 hours away). Multiple people guessed October 9th but no one had October 8th.
