On their way to the 28th Annual Buses by the Bridge event in Lake Havasu, these groovy VWs made a quick stop at the iconic drive-thru shield at the Kingman Powerhouse Visitor Center and Route 66 Museum for the ultimate photo op! 📸

🗣️ ATTENTION ROUTE 66 BUSINESSES! 🗣️ Grant funding is available through the National Trust for Historic Preservation for small businesses on Route 66. $5K to $10K for businesses to preserve historic places and spur economic development along the Route 66 corridor. Emphasis on projects that illuminate underrepresented narratives.

Westside Lilo's Cafe is an anchor of Route 66 in Arizona. The Route 66 community is deeply saddened by this tremendous loss. Lilo Russell, beloved by so many people, will be dearly missed. Her legacy lives on in the hearts and spirit of everyone she met. ❤️

It is with great sadness that, we announce the passing of our founder, and beloved Mom(Mutter), Lilo. We will be closed so we can allow time for us and our staff to take this all in. Lilo had so much love for her business and she was so blessed with so many wonderful years working along side her family and staff. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.

2024 Spring ACF Grant Recipients

Osterman Gas Station – Peach Spring, Arizona – Building repairs to historic building.

Arizona Route 66 Museum – Kingman, Arizona – Route 66 Centennial renovation project.

Williams Street Department – Williams, Arizona – Construction of wall to separate the visitor center from the train tracks for visitor safety.

Williams Parks Department – Williams, Arizona –Route 66 signs that are part of Route 66 Centennial plan.

Kingman Main Street – Kingman, Arizona – Historic Hotel Beale façade improvement.

2024 Spring Cost Share Grant Recipients

Holbrook Chamber of Commerce – Holbrook, Arizona – Joint project to paint and restore benches along Route 66.

Ash Fork Route 66 Museum – Ash Fork, Arizona – Renovation & improvements in preparation for the centennial including new exhibits and the addition of a mural.

2024 Fall Cost Share Grant Recipients

Joseph City – mural painted on old Joseph City Grocery building, currently operating as Roger’s Custom Cuts butcher shop. Second mural painted on the wall of Tanner Pioneer Park

Route 66 Road Ahead Initiative – “Route 66: Wartime Women” documentary short films, a story map, comprehensive lesson plans tailored for 6th – 10th grade classrooms.

City of Holbrook – Refurbishing of two billboards with Route 66 messaging.
