My wife and I have been on 9+ years of adventure up to this point. We are so hardcore we've avoided going to "easier" and "more accessible" places because we can go there when we are older. Finding the right guide is a very personal thing. In general compatibility of people is very complex. Not tour guides, but knowledgeable experts that live locally and are professionals at guiding visitors in their area. They are paid through a company or directly and help ensure they bridge the language barrier in local areas, know the customs, fill you on all the history and culture, and ensure you have a great time.
