When I was 10 Walt Disney World opened. It was something very special to my mother and I. I didn’t have many more years with her, but we shared a love of everything Walt Disney. I’m so thankful for those precious memories. My draw to Disney is because of my few short memories with her. She would have loved Epcot!! Sitting next to this statue today was very emotional. This happy place has so many memories and so many smiles. Thank you Walt for making your dream come true.

Festival of the Holidays at Walt Disney World’s Epcot is a great time to visit! There are many Christmas or Holiday story tellers based on the country in World Showcase! Where else can you enjoy so many cultures in one place? The foods offered during the festival are wonderful too! Plus a cookie stroll to enjoy!!

Back to Tokyo for my last 3 days! More good food and beautiful views. It’s amazing how each area has such a different personality. We ate Yakitori (skewers of chicken), and conveyer belt sushi along with so many other delicious food and treats!! s

Day 4: Second day in Kyoto and one of my favorite days so far! We visited: Fushimi Inari, Nishiki Market and Kiyomizudera. I tried Amazake; a sweet hot rice beverage just outside the torii gate trail and it was delicious. We enjoyed a beer and lunch overlooking a small pond in the Fushimi Inari area, and then had a drink overlooking the Kamo River on our walk to Kiyomizudera. We watched the sun beginning to set from the area around the pagoda and then my daughter found an amazing restaurant at the top of a hotel. The sun continued to set and I can’t imagine many things more beautiful or relaxing than our view from the restaurant overlooking this beautiful city. Another wonderful day that my daughter planned for us.

Day 3: Kyoto - We began on a bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto traveling about 185 mph. We had a great view of Mt Fuji during our trip to Kyoto. We checked into our beautiful hotel, and then went to an area called Arashiyama. It felt so far from a busy city. The river and views were fantastic. The bamboo forest there was amazing as well. We ate dinner at Kacto overlooking the river. It was delicious and a perfect end to a wonderful day.

Day 2 in Japan was a visit to Tokyo Disneyland. Always so wonderful!! The lines were long and the park was busy, but still so fun!! The Beauty and Beast ride was worth the 150 minute wait!

Yamamoto-tei - we had tea
Solamachi at Tokyo Skytree
lunch at Din Tai Fung.

Also, Japanese train stations each have their own unique stamp! It’s such a cool idea to collect these for your scrap book as you travel throughout Japan.
