For the last four years, Steve Ellis has been leading couples, individuals and families, to waterfalls, amazing views, for the trails of The Great Smoky Mountains, and also leading kayaking and camping tours on local lakes to secluded islands. www.HikeTheSmokys.Com His original inspiration for doing this as a business, began as he hiked with folks to places of stunning beauty and awe, he noticed how those people from different races, cultures, religious beliefs, and political persuasions, seem to transform, and let down their personal barriers and relate to perfect strangers as friends. Fascinated with this healing phenomena, he began to consider conducting more hiking events, and nearly 400 hikes later, he's observed time and time again, the healing affect of wilderness hiking in the Smokies. Hiking has since become his obsessive passion. So, four years ago, he resigned his full-time position as a home designer, to devote his life to bringing people to beautiful Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, to experience the joys of wilderness hiking themselves.
After many years in the Music, film & television business, he is presently, along with his real estate business, (www.tnrealestatehiker.com ) he conducting private hikes for everyone from amny different countries, couples needing some quality time together, to celebrate their marriages, anniversaries, or just to have a good time together, and have their memories forever captured by Steve's professional photography.
He’s also expanded into leading groups on day hikes, kayaking adventures, and overnight camping. Licensed by the U.S. Dept. of The Interior Parks Division, and trained by The American Red Cross in first aid, and AED, and armed with the latest GPS tracking and Garmin satellite rescue communication systems, he strives to always put safety first, in the planning, and follow through of every adventure!
