Are you planning to visit VENICE, ITALY, this year? You need to know this: Venice Tourist Tax Update for 2025
In an effort to combat overtourism and protect its ancient charm, Venice is extending its Tourist Tax pilot project into 2025. Here’s what travelers need to know before planning a visit:
🗓️ When Does It Apply?
The tax will cover 54 days from April 18 to July 27, mostly on weekends and public holidays. Specific dates include:
April 2025: 18–30
May 2025: 1–4, 9–11, 16–18, 23–25, 30–31
June 2025: 1–2, 6–8, 13–15, 20–22, 27–29
July 2025: 4–6, 11–13, 18–20, 25–27
💰 Cost
€5 per person (14+ years old)
€10 if booked less than 4 days in advance
📲 How Does It Work?
Day visitors need a QR code to enter.
Exemptions: Residents, disabled visitors, and those visiting friends/family (must still download an exemption QR code).
Overnight guests with confirmed accommodations in Venice or nearby areas (Murano, Burano, Lido, Mestre, etc.) do not need to pay.

Spotting Scarlet Macaws in Costa Rica is a favorite activity for bird lovers. Did you know that they are primarily found on the Pacific side of the country, specifically in the Central and South Pacific regions? If you would like to see these gorgeous birds, head to these areas!
The Scarlet Macaw once inhabited 85% of Costa Rica’s territory, but today only two populations remain. However, with the strong determination of scientists and environmentalists, the Macaw population is on the rise. Through efforts to preserve forests, educate the public about the dangers of poaching, and implement breeding and reintroduction programs, the Scarlet Macaw population is growing.
In 1994, it was estimated that around 400 Scarlet Macaws were left in the country; as of 2023, that number has risen to about 1,600 individuals.
Ten years ago, visitors to the popular beach town of Manuel Antonio would rarely see the scarlet macaw, but now these beautiful birds are commonly spotted in the trees around Manuel Antonio National Park.
I almost always see them flying overhead around Jaco and even playing in the trees south of Jaco. You will usually hear them before you see them.
