This is a photo of an endemic Shortsnout Scorpionfish. They look very similar to the Devil Scorpionfish, but the Shortsnout is small, doesn't have a hump behind the head, and the eyes are a peach color.

Antler coral (Pocillopora grandis) is one of the most iconic corals on our reefs. Many species live or shelter within Antler coral, including the Hawaiian Dascyllus damselfish, one of our favorite endemic species.

Have you ever wondered what coral looks like close-up? Most coral species are colonel organisms made up of individual animals called polyps.
The first photo is of Rice coral (Montipora capitata), and the second photo is of Lobe coral (Porites lobata); both are commonly seen diving in Kauai.
