Happy Frogfish Friday! This week, we spotted some of these beloved but bizarre-looking fish at multiple dive sites around Kauai’s south shore.
The Frogfish in the first photo is relatively apparent, but the one in the second is very well-camouflaged. There are actually two Frogfish in the third photo! Comment below if you found all four.

This is a photo of an endemic Shortsnout Scorpionfish. They look very similar to the Devil Scorpionfish, but the Shortsnout is small, doesn't have a hump behind the head, and the eyes are a peach color.

Antler coral (Pocillopora grandis) is one of the most iconic corals on our reefs. Many species live or shelter within Antler coral, including the Hawaiian Dascyllus damselfish, one of our favorite endemic species.

Have you ever wondered what coral looks like close-up? Most coral species are colonel organisms made up of individual animals called polyps.
The first photo is of Rice coral (Montipora capitata), and the second photo is of Lobe coral (Porites lobata); both are commonly seen diving in Kauai.

We saw Dolphins, Monk Seals, Turtles, and Sharks on our Monday Niihau charter! The Bottlenose dolphins swam by during the safety stop, a turtle at Pyramid Point was a rare sight, and the divers saw Hawaiian monk seals on all three dives, even at Niihau Arches coming out of the chimney swim-through!
