Our latest AD has encouraged us to schedule an open group trip for Neon Canyon this fall. Dates are October 18th - 20th. Message us to get more information and book. We will interview all participants to make sure it is a good fit. Open group trips are 18 and up, we encourage families to look into private trips.

Want to beat the crowds in the national parks? Ask us how. The narrows is one of the most famous and busy areas in Zion but you can still get a picture without the crowds if you time it right. We do rental from the shop in La Verkin and our guides will take you to beat the crowds the best we can.

What would you rappel on? These are all quick links taken from various anchors for various reasons. Only one is rated but most would hold just fine. One is rather scary. Comment below what you think and why.

A - spotdoo 8mm no breaking rating but is steal in good condition.
B - hardware store 10mm a little rust but is a beefcake
C - 7mm Maillion rapide rated as strong or stronger than most carabiners would rappel for sure
D - the scary one stamped million but no real rating has a 250kg stamp feels very light no directional load ratings… sus

Things to look for - reputable brand, directional load indicators, corrosion.

When rappelling on a single strand do you prefer a carabiner or a knot block and why? There’s reasons for both but find that many people default to a carabiner block

Road side canyons have some interesting things in them. We practice LNT but this trucks pretty iconic at this point. What do you think, should it be removed?

The belayed rappel. The standard in guiding but the rarely seen in a rec setting. Have you ever utilized this option with a friend? I have when they were exhausted and wanted some added safety. It’s a grate tool to have in your back pocket and is a step towards a lower that can be used for an injured partner. What are some other options you’ve utilized or trained to help tired or incapacitated partners?

Did you know these are in Utah? Can you name his species? We’re starting to move up in elevation as it warms up Bryce, Escalante, and Capital Reef will all be in full swing for us in the next couple weeks. If you’re lucky to be in these areas you might see one of these guys before it gets hot

I’ve been using a full sleep set up this winter and let me tell you it’s the best night sleeps I’ve had in the back country. (100% not paid for this). The wide rapide sl pad, with the 3-1 Lone Ranger, and the rapide sl pillow, I thought it was a joke how comfortable I was. The sun went down at 7 and we got back up at 7 and 12 hrs later I was still happy to be in bed drinking coffee with no aches or pains. I’ve already forgotten how hard this approach was and I’m ready to go back, could have stayed an extra night, it literally put my mine at easy knowing I was going to sleep good where ever I ended up. Pro tip bring an emergency bivy to protect the pad when cowboy camping 👍
