With the year ending and a new on beginning, there is a lot of talk about reflecting and purpose...so I thought it would be the perfect time to share how Reflections Travel got its name!

I have been learning a lesson for almost 10 years now, and it is one that I will continue to grow in for the entirety of my life. As a Jesus follower, I believe I am created in God's image. However, I am NOT Jesus so I am not perfect. I struggle with the idea that I am to be a picture to the world of the God that saved me, while also being a sinner.

Then one day, as I sat beside a still pond, God gave me a clear and beautiful picture. The water before me was perfectly calm, reflecting the trees and sky above. He revealed to me that I’m not the one on display. I was never meant to be light itself—I’m simply here to reflect it. Just as the water diffuses the light or a mirror redirects the light, my life can reflect His love and faithfulness to the world. That moment changed everything for me.

I have spent the years since discovering ways I can reflect God's light accurately with my life. The most effective way I have found to do so is with a joyful heart. The light airy version of myself that notices and appreciates every detail of His masterpiece. The laughter that is contagious. The warm grin exchanged between friends or loved ones as a still small moment is shared. These things reflect all the best parts of my God. The love He longs to share with every person I encounter.

For me and my family, travel brings these moments about in droves. It allows us to rest, reconnect, rejoice, and reflect God's joy, love, peace, and faithfulness. Through that realization, Reflections Travel was born. My desire is to help others have those moments as well. To create opportunities through travel for God's light to be felt, seen, deeply experienced, and ultimately shared.
