Pangolins are fascinating creatures and are in dire need of conservation to ensure their survival. Significant poaching is sadly the number one threat to their survival. It is falsely claimed that Pangolin scales have medicinal properties in traditional Chinese medicine, despite there being no scientific evidence.
On our most recent trip to Uganda we were fortunate to meet with a group of reformed poachers who have dedicated themselves to rescuing, rehabilitating and returning these sweet mammals back to their natural environment. Additionally, the team also focuses their efforts on educating the local communities on alternative ways to support their families with farming, fishing, bee keeping, etc instead of poaching to make money.
It was an unforgettable visit and we are very appreciative of the efforts of this team. THANK YOU!
