A Journey I’ll Never Forget 🌊

These past few days, I’ve been reflecting on and truly appreciating our 220km circumnavigation of Maui.

From the moment I heard about Epic Swim Maui, I knew it would be something special. It was an opportunity to join together for ocean health, to learn about the incredibly rich Hawaiian culture and to honour the legacy of Duke Kahanamoku, the ambassador of aloha 🌎

Looking back now, this journey became more than I could have ever imagined. It was four weeks filled with learning, laughter, challenges, and countless moments that touched my heart 💙

While I hope to share more of these memories with you all one day, here are three of my favourite takeaways from Maui:

1️⃣ Together, We Achieve More: This journey was a powerful reminder of the strength in working together. The passion and dedication from everyone involved - swimmers, scientists, cultural leaders, organisers, supporters, and backers - was so inspiring.

Epic Swim Maui is a testament to the idea that it takes many hands to weave a sail, and when we sail together, we can sail far.

2️⃣ The Power of Aloha: Experiencing aloha was one of the most humbling aspects of this journey. The people of Hawaii live with grace, compassion, and harmony - not just with each other but with the world.

There is so much to learn from the people of Hawaii and from unsung heroes like Duke Kahanamoku, who embody these values (please look him up and watch Waterman if you get the chance) 🤝🏽

3️⃣ Swimming with Purpose: The swim itself was both incredible and challenging, but what I’ll cherish most are the moments around the swimming - the happiness, laughter, and meaningful conversations we all shared.

This was a truly enriching experience. I feel more motivated than ever to continue attempting challenges and using swimming to support causes close to my heart 💪🏽

It won’t be easy, but I’m determined to make this my path.

Thank you to everyone who made Epic Swim Maui possible and supported us along the way. From the bottom of my heart, I’m so grateful 🙏🏽

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the devastating Maui wildfires, and we pause to honor the memory of those we lost, celebrate the strength of our survivors, and reaffirm our commitment to rebuilding.

While the scars remain, the spirit of aloha shines brighter than ever. We invite you to join us in remembering and supporting our Maui ‘ohana and we look forward to your next visit to share the magic of our beautiful home!
