Have you ever wondered how whale entanglement teams train??

Our team hit the ground running this season and has already been called to respond to an entangled whale yesterday morning, a day before our first official training session of the year. Our owner and seasoned whale responder, Lee James, led the training session filled with practice throws for tagging entangled whales as well as making line cuts. More training to come to practice and hone these skills!

You never know what you’re going to see on tour! The other day, guests were lucky enough to get a very up close sighting of a critically endangered Hawaiian monk seal as it decided that the Mala boat ramp looked like a delightful place for a nap. Luckily, we were just about to head off on tour so we got a super special look at this beautiful animal before booking it on to our snorkel spot 🙌🏼 Video from First Mate Casey
