Captain Steve's Rafting Adventures

Captain Steve's Rafting Adventures Waste no time in discovering the secrets of the reef and playing with dolphins, whales, turtles and more! Whales are our specialty! Imagine no more.

Captain Steve's is no ka oi (the best)! Imagine 200 spinner dolphins putting on a show just for you. Imagine swimming right beside Hawaiian green sea turtles. Imagine seeing a mother humpback whale and her newborn calf. Imagine enjoying majestic Maui and the deep blue sea. Climb aboard an ocean raft for a thrilling ride across one of Maui County's channels, and you'll find a snorkeler's heaven. Wh

ether it's the island of Lanai, Molokai, or even Maui, you will be hard pressed to find a more exquisite example of paradise. Captain Steve's two hard bottom inflatable vessels can get you there faster than all the rest. Waste no time in discovering the secrets of the reef and playing with dolphins, humpback whales, turtles and rays. There is no telling what we might encounter on any given day. No two trips are alike, and that's probably what keeps the captains and crew so friendly and accommodating. They are as excited about going to work as the guests are about going on a Maui rafting adventure! Constantly in search of the "Perfect Day" of snorkeling or whale watching, Captain Steve and his crew will stop at nothing to ensure unparalleled service and quality.

The Maui Jim Maui Invitational basketball tournament is on this week Mon/Tues/Wed on Espn2. It sure is showing Maui and paying tribute to Lahaina. A musician from Maui will be featured during the halftime of the last game today. Check it out!
Steve Grimes "I get to play 2 of my originals during halftime of the Maui Invitational Tournament semi final game tomorrow (Tuesday, Nov 26 at 6:30PM Hawaii time)on ESPN!! Nationwide! Iʻll be playing "Out Of The Woods" - my "mahalo" to the trees who helped make my instruments, and my mahalo to TreecoveryHawaii.org, the organization thatʻs raising young replacement trees, free of charge, for the 20,000 trees lost in the August 2023 fires in Lāhainā and Kula.
And then Iʻll be joined by John Cruz to help perform "Lāhainā Town". I hope you can tune in!!"

This really shows the challenges of rebuilding Lahaina.

With the rebuilding of homes underway and the commercial cleanup nearly finished, businesses say the timing is crucial to rebuild and provide jobs for returning residents.

We are so happy for this young couple! “More than a year after the Upcountry and Lahaina fires, debris removal from all residential properties has been completed while commercial debris removal was 91% finished as of Monday, according to the Maui County recovery dashboard. In Lahaina, 291 building permits have been submitted and 134 have been issued. Work has been finished on one of those permits, which was for a demolition, according to the count.

Renner said there are a few more homes on Komo Mai Street that will follow the Ah Hees soon. Residents of Komo Mai Street were among the first to receive rebuilding permits thanks to neighborhood’s newer infrastructure and location, which is on the more mauka side of the burn zone where rebuilding is less complicated than along the shoreline.”

Those on Komo Mai street are definitely ahead of most as that street’s homes were only about five years old so their house plans and permits were up to date.
That’s 134 permits issued out of approximately 1370 homes. Many have left and won’t rebuild. It’s going to be a long recovery. What most people don’t realize is that the US Army Corps of engineers is clearing Lahaina’s commercial lots debris for the first time. In previous wildfires, they only cleared residential debris. Due to our limited help and resources here, the Army Corps has really come through for Lahaina and Kula. We are ever so grateful to the Army Corps!

The Ah Hees are days away from their final inspection and plan to spend Thanksgiving surrounded by loved ones more than a year after they were displaced by the August 2023 fire.
